7 Tips for Better Hair, Skin, and Nails This Winter

The winter season is notorious for bringing about dry, lackluster hair, skin, and nails. You might feel like your hair is lifeless and desert-dry, your skin is tough and cracked, and your nails are brittle. It is possible to keep your body moisturized, hydrated, and healthy this winter. We have a list of tips to help you combat the harsh winter months and keep your hair, skin, and nails looking and feeling their best.

1. Avoid Hot Showers

We know that scorching-hot showers are one of the best ways to warm up and get comfy during the winter months. Unfortunately, hot showers strip moisture and hydration from your hair and skin. Long hot showers can leave your hair and skin feeling flaky, tight, and dry immediately afterward.

Stick to lukewarm water for as long as possible during your showers. Try to avoid turning the heat up past a comfortable, warm temperature. You can still enjoy some warmth and comfort without blasting your hair and skin with dryness.

2.
Drink Plenty of Water

This one seems like a no-brainer, but we promise it helps a lot. Staying hydrated and drinking a lot of water throughout the day will help your body retain moisture. Your hair, skin, and nails will become brittle and dry without hydration. Water is excellent for your overall health, as well.

You should aim for at least 64 ounces of water per day. We recommend investing in a fashionable water bottle that you will want to carry around with you all day. Having a cute water bottle will help you stay motivated to drink enough water.

3. Use Effective Moisturizing Products

Each winter, many beauty companies will claim that their moisturizers are the best on the market. It is essential to look for three key ingredients in any moisturizer you buy: shea butter, vitamin E, and glycerin. These components will lock in moisture underneath your skin and hair barriers to keep you feeling soft and smooth.

Avoid thin creams and moisturizing products with a ton of filler ingredients. Some of the best hydrating creams and oils only have a few ingredients. You can even use raw shea butter and vitamin E oil on their own to keep your skin, hair, and nails silky and soft. These products are inexpensive and very effective.

4.
Add Oligonol® to Your Daily Regimen

Our premium circulatory health supplement, Oligonol®, supports healthy blood flow to improve the health of your hair, skin, and nails.* Oligonol® relaxes your blood vessels to allow more blood flow to essential areas of your body.* Blood flow is what keeps your hair, skin, and nails vibrant and healthy, so Oligonol® is a must-have supplement during the dry winter months.

When your hair, skin, and nails do not receive adequate blood supply, these areas lose their healthy glow and shine. Oligonol® improves your cardiovascular health and fights against aging in your body, allowing your hair, skin, and nails to thrive with the rest of your body.*

Oligonol® contains natural, plant-based ingredients like lychee fruit and green tea extract.* If you want to naturally improve your circulation and nourishment for your hair, skin, and nails during the cold season, add Oligonol® to your daily supplement regimen.*

5. Cut Down on Shampoo

Shampoo can strip your hair of natural oils that keep it soft, smooth, and shiny. This is especially true when your hair is exposed to cold, dry, harsh weather during the winter months. You should try to shampoo your hair every other day or less frequently to keep it hydrated and full of life.

Dry shampoo is an excellent alternative to washing your hair every day. This product is a powdered spray that absorbs the oils around your scalp and keeps your hair from looking greasy. This way, you can maintain gorgeous hair without damaging it through excessive washing.

6. Apply Lotion After Hand Washing

During the winter, most of us are keen on washing our hands frequently throughout the day to get rid of germs. While this is good for your health, it can wreak havoc on your skin. Make sure to apply a moisturizing, healing lotion or balm after each time you wash your hands. This will keep your hands from becoming dry, cracked, and painful during the cold season.

Moisturizing creams typically contain more oils and healing ingredients than plain lotions. If you suffer from callous, irritated skin on your hands, you can apply a heavier cream instead of lotion. Keep creams and lotions next to your sink to remind you to moisturize each time you wash your hands.

7.
Use Scalp Oils

Your scalp and hair can become flaky and dry during cold weather. Several scalp oils can heal your scalp and reduce dandruff. Hot showers can be especially damaging to your scalp, making it even more necessary to use oils on your scalp. Before you wash your hair, add a few drops of olive oil or coconut oil to your hands and massage them into your scalp. This will help your scalp and hair replenish the natural oils they need to remain healthy.
