What makes a supplement work
To know that a vitamin or amino acid or herb works, it has to be tested in humans. That’s because what works in a test tube or an animal doesn’t always work in a person. (In fact, it rarely does.)
Once an ingredient has passed the human clinical research test, it needs to be provided at the studied dosage. Otherwise, there’s no guarantee it will have the effect you want. (In fact, it probably won’t.)
Many nutritional supplements don’t work because they either a.) don’t contain clinically validated ingredients or b.) don’t provide adequate doses. It’s a big problem. And it’s sad, because supplements have so much power to foster health and well-being when they’re formulated correctly.
A company is born
More than 20 years ago, our founding team attended a research symposium in Sapporo, Japan, where they learned about an amazing mushroom extract called AHCC®. This extract was widely used in Japan but was unheard of in the United States. As they listened to various scientific presentations on this ingredient, they kept hearing one sentence over and over: AHCC® improves people's quality of life. And so, an idea was born.
They set out on a mission to bring this unique ingredient into the United States and to educate Americans about its benefits. And what would they name their company?
"Quality of Life" of course!
