The 5 best beach audio-book reads for summer 2021

Summer is one of the best times to go outside, unwind, and just appreciate being alive and the beautiful things that exist in our world. One great way to relax during summer is by indulging in a book or two, maybe three. However, many people aren't fond of reading actual books as much as they used to be, and during the summer, sun-glare can affect your ability to read on the go. Luckily audio-books have become a mainstream alternative!

If you want to enjoy a book while genuinely relaxing, we curated a shortlist of audio-books that you can listen to this summer!

Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood

People from all walks of life agree: Danny Trejo is a legendary man both on and off the screen. He's a fantastic actor with a pretty decent list of films and TV shows under his belt, especially movies considered "cult hits."

Such an amazing actor needs to be known more, and what better way to do that than by listening to his life story in Trejo: My Life of Crime, Redemption, and Hollywood. The title is self-explanatory, as it tells Danny's success in Hollywood, the struggles he faced, and his battle with addiction.

The best part: Danny narrates the book himself! So it feels like he's telling his story to you personally. How cool is that?

That Summer

Listening to an audio-book this summer wouldn't be complete if we didn't include a book that's literally about the summer, and best-selling author Jennifer Weiner delivers with That Summer. The book is about Daisy, a typical suburban housewife who connects with a powerful corporate queen through mysterious emails that were "accidentally" sent to her inbox. The plot revolves around solving the mystery of the emails and why Daisy is the recipient.

Golden Girl

Elin Hilderbrand is yet another beach-read author, and we recommend Golden Girl. The book revolves around the life and death of author Vivian Howe. After a fatal accident, Vivian enters a realm where she is granted a gift to watch over her loved ones for one final summer. She is also given three chances to alter the outcome of what happens on Earth, and each decision must be made carefully, or things can turn from bad to worse.

The Last Thing He Told Me

Laura Dave's The Last Thing He Told Me is a book about an estranged husband's disappearance, a note to his wife Hannah, and the heartbreaking reality she finds out about the man she loves. It was recently adapted as a series to be aired on Apple TV+ with A-lister Julia Roberts signing to play the lead role of Hannah.

The Bookshop on the Corner

Jenny Colgan's The Bookshop on the Corner is the story of Nina Redmond, an English librarian, who has to accept the fact that libraries just aren't as popular as they used to a decade or two ago. She loses her job, but her passion for books never wavered. She buys a van and starts a roving bookstore, and the story begins.

Takeaway…

Listening to audio-books is a great way to unwind and relax. If you have trouble choosing one, any audio-book from our list is a guaranteed hit and bestseller for a reason. Whether you're on a summer escapade or simply at home, listening to a good audio-book can enhance any experience.
